Mathematical biology is a classical subject that has seen a strong increase of activity over the past years, driven by the plethora of genetic information that has become available.
Current research in the Department focuses on models of population genetics, which describe the interplay of mutation and selection, and possibly other evolutionary factors such as recombination and genetic drift, in the context of biological evolution of populations. Other areas of current interest include evolutionary biology of host-parasite relationships.
